The Experience
- Celebrating a special moment at Bakers Island Light is a unique option for intrepid couples looking for a small, no-frills ceremony in an unbelievably beautiful setting - somewhere not many have the chance to go.
- The island is located 4 miles from Salem at the edge of Salem Sound. To get there, you and your guests (along with photographer and officiant) will board the landing craft, Naumkeag, for a 30-minute cruise past gorgeous coastline, seaside homes, and rocky islands.
- When you arrive at Bakers Island Light, your guests will disembark on a rocky beach and walk approximately 1/2 mile to the lighthouse. Please note that the boat is an aluminum landing craft and you and your guests are likely to get wet during the cruise and while disembarking on the beach.
- At the Light Station, you will be surrounded by picturesque landscape and historic architecture. Your guests can gather on the green lawn in front of the lighthouse for a standing ceremony, followed by a once-in-a-lifetime photo session with your photographer. While catering is not an option at the island, you are welcome to bring a picnic for your guests, as well as champagne to cap off the ceremony.
- After the ceremony, cruise back to Salem for dinner or reception at one of the fantastic venues located in the city. We are happy to work with you to identify a venue that is the right fit for your party.
